25th January 2010: Ireland’s most talented designers and craftspeople gathered in the RDS today to witness jeweler Elaine-Sarah Comerford of Button & Co. – who achieved recognition on Dragon’s Den last year - scoop the overall prize for Best New Product at Showcase as well as Best New Product in the Jewellery section for her Button Charm Bracelet. The two-tone silver and gold bracelet depicting old-fashioned buttons was lauded for its quality, design and innovation.

SHOWCASE 2010 OPENS: Buyer Numbers Up at Ireland’s Creative Expo as Irish Designers & Craftspeople Showcase to the World
24th January 2010: Tánaiste Mary Coughlan officially opened Showcase, Ireland’s Creative Expo, at the RDS today where 400 of Ireland’s leading designers and craftspeople will generate up to €22 million in sales orders over the next four days at their most important sales event of the year.

HONOURING TRADITIONS IN IRISH GLASSMAKING: Bursary to Fund Study & Exhibition on Heritage of Glass Cutting and Engraving in Ireland
14th January 2010: The world-renowned skills of Irish master cutters and engravers is to be documented in a unique research study on the heritage of glassmaking in Ireland and will become the subject of a major exhibition in 2011, following the announcement of the Crafts Council of Ireland’s Irish Craft Bursary. Róisín de Buitléar is the recipient of a €15,000 Irish Craft Bursary which enables her to initiate the creation of an historical record of the techniques of former Waterford Crystal master engravers and cutters.
